The Kano state zoological garden has spoken officially on the previous story circulating the internet and which has erupted reactions on social media, of an alleged N6.8 million that was raised during Sallah celebration and stolen, thereafter swallowed by a gorilla.
It was reported last week that the Finance Officer of the zoo claimed that a total amount of N6.8 million that was raised during Eid has been stolen by a huge gorilla.
However, in his own statement, the Managing Director of the zoo, Mallam Umar Yusif Umar debunked the news and stressed that the money was stolen by burglars and not an animal.Umar added that he was called by their security officer and was informed about the incidence on the 9th of June. He was quoted by Daily-Post as saying "Instantly I called the DPO, Sharada police station and reported the case to him. As far as I’m concerned, I suspect theft and nothing close to Gorilla.”
